WELCOME TO YOUR FATHER'S DEN!

Welcome to Your Father's Den! Here you will find the"best of the best" of reel to reel music just like dear old Dad use to play. The format and genre will be similar to that of the Hut. I chose to do this blog because there are tapes out there in high quality analog that no one has ever heard before(including myself) It gives the listener a chance to hear some great music as it was meant to be heard. So I hope you will enjoy this new blog and I welcome any comments.

This doesn't break my mood, just cranks it up a bit more. Super album, thanks again!

This reel epitomizes the term Space Age Pop! I really enjoyed transferring this reel.

Thank you for this cool post. This replaces my worn LP! As many of your readers may know, the LP cover was very different from the tape box. I don’t know why. Maybe RCA thought that the LP version was a bit much for the reel to reel crowd. Anyway, anyone who is interested can see the other cover here.

Thanks again!

Great album--Dick Schory is my favorite space age pop artist these days.

If anyone's interested, I have his complete discography listed here, with links to blog posts:

As for the cover, I wonder if it was simply that the lettering on the LP cover would have been too small when reduced to reel to reel size.

Thanks for this and all your other great rips.

Wonderful album. Amazing version of Caravan (love those pedal timpani). Many thanks, Rich.

Hi Rich. This is great stuff, and I really appreciate the clean transfer. Sure beats my album, although as has been said the original gong-smashing cover was one of the era's best. Some of you may not realize that Dick Schory started his own label (Ovation) and produced an amazing multi-record box set of Disney music. It's a classic that has not, to my knowledge, ever appeared on tiny disc. Grab it if you can. Meanwhile, this great music just makes my day. All the best,

Iggymo

Good heavens...I've just taken a look at the original album art thanks to Melachrino's tip off. What a work of art! You have to hand it to RCA (and Capitol) they had some ace graphic designers in those days.

Tribute to Mikis Theodorakis. 1000 Songs(50 CD) free download. Visit my blog http://goodmusipresszita.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the recording! Was on another site, but had no link.
Let me politely suggest you cease using Rapidshare. Their "free" downloads now average 13 minutes. Used to be about 7 minutes for a typical album. Mega Upload or Media Fire don't mess with the free side downloaders like that.

Reminds me of Dorothy Ashby's 'Afro Harping': http://www.discogs.com/Dorothy-Ashby-Afro-Harping/master/59827

Your latest upload, but my first time at your site. I ended up DL'ing every tape. Was never aware these labels even put them out. Thank you. These add to my ever growing collection of this genre. I have a good 50 or so of Command, and as many London P4 already in the "0101..." state. Your effort is much appreciated, and keep them coming! Nice site. Thanks

Put this on my Mp3 player and when one of the songs pop up in the random mode I always have to look and see what's playing. That because I think, wow, this is great, who is this? May just have to play the whole thing at one time.
Side note to Devlin - I understand about the type size but look at some of the CD's out now where they shrunk the type on an 12" album down to fit on a 4" cd. Even with my bifoculs I can't read them. I don't know that I could have read them if I were 30 years younger thou either.
