WELCOME TO YOUR FATHER'S DEN!
Welcome to Your Father's Den! Here you will find the"best of the best" of reel to reel music just like dear old Dad use to play. The format and genre will be similar to that of the Hut. I chose to do this blog because there are tapes out there in high quality analog that no one has ever heard before(including myself) It gives the listener a chance to hear some great music as it was meant to be heard. So I hope you will enjoy this new blog and I welcome any comments.

Another great post! Makes me want my Roberts 990 back. There was just something about watching those tapes spin and the VU Meters bounce. Better than watching TV!
Thanks Rich
That's funny, I thought I was the only one who felt that way about reel to reels!
Not by a long shot. Don't know what it is but it was certainly addicting. My love affair with Tape started remote AF Base in Galena, Alaska in 1960 with a used Wollensak ( 10 Watt Tube Amp ) and a stack of Armed Forces LP's . Ray Conniff never sounded so good. My first Stereo was two Knight Kit 10 Watt Mono Amps, a Garrard turntable and Knight Speakers purchased from Allied radio. I am sure i never approached the amount of equipment you have had but I progressed through several Sony, Teac, Roberts, and Akai units through the years. I was a big fan of DBX Noise reduction, DBX Companders and sound processors etc. Personally I always thought it was better than Dolby. Don't know what I enjoyed more, playing with the equipment or listening to the music!
Not to mention the many Heathkit, Eico, Fisher etc Amplifier and Tuner kits!
I think it's a little bit of both.
My years of Stereo tapes were enjoyed using 2 Ampex machines which I still miss!
Thanks Rich for the invitation and for yet another outstanding selection of music.
Algy.
My pleasure and welcome aboard!
Thanks, Rich. And have a safe July 4 holiday!
You too!
Thanks,
Rich
