WELCOME TO YOUR FATHER'S DEN!

Welcome to Your Father's Den! Here you will find the"best of the best" of reel to reel music just like dear old Dad use to play. The format and genre will be similar to that of the Hut. I chose to do this blog because there are tapes out there in high quality analog that no one has ever heard before(including myself) It gives the listener a chance to hear some great music as it was meant to be heard. So I hope you will enjoy this new blog and I welcome any comments.

Did You Know?

Did you know that this song was the inspiration of the beginning of MadMen? I didn't realize this until I heard this track and believe it or not I was not expecting this song to be Autumn Leaves.
  MADMEN!! I mean Autumn Leaves.

Rich,

No I did not know but is a pleasant surprise as I had never watched "Mad Men" until about a month ago when I started with Season One on Netflix. I hate to admit that I am hooked, I have been collecting the music into a playlist. I am now watching the second episode of the final season. I enjoyed Robert Morse's "The Best Things In Life Are Free"

Thank you so much for the current selections and I hope this means that you will be posting an occasional selection from time to time.

Same here season 7 episode 2. Love the series and I love how the show followed the current events of the 60's and 70's.

Mad Men has brought back a lot of memories. I have a rip of the Stan Freeman Album "Fascination" but had not listened to it for years and did not remember Autumn Leaves arrangement. It is a great album. Am a big fan of Command and Project 3 labels as well as Audio Fidelity.

Thanks again for all the great music.

Wow, that's it fer sure. I'm going to be devastated when it's over. I know, that sounds like something a 12-year old girl would say about Vampire Pen Pals or whatever they watch. But really, it's been our favorite part of Sunday nights for going on 9 years. And just when they're revving up the '70s and Rogers grows that incredible mustache.

Rich,
Whatever happened to your other blog, "Vinyl Lounge Hut"?
Sadly missed.

Algy.

Looks like RJD2 got this from Stan Freeman. I can't find anything that gives any credit to to Stan Freeman for the intro to Mad Men ??

Same here TK Command and Project 3 put out such high quality items.

Armpit Studios,
I agree, mad for Madmen.

Algernonblack,
I've gone private on the Hut, just get me an e-mail so I can send you an invite. I'm at Jackiedog5@gmail.com.

TK,
It's really clever how that song was incorporated into the MADMEN intro.

Interesting! Add my name to the roster of the surprised. I have that Freeman album, but never made the connection.

I started watching Madmen about two months ago so you could imagine my surprise.
