WELCOME TO YOUR FATHER'S DEN!

Welcome to Your Father's Den! Here you will find the"best of the best" of reel to reel music just like dear old Dad use to play. The format and genre will be similar to that of the Hut. I chose to do this blog because there are tapes out there in high quality analog that no one has ever heard before(including myself) It gives the listener a chance to hear some great music as it was meant to be heard. So I hope you will enjoy this new blog and I welcome any comments.

PERSUASIVE PERCUSSION VOL. 2

Well I may be putting the cart before the horse by posting volume two before one, it's just that I was really excited about acquiring this tape recently. I will be posting volume one next. I do believe this along with vol. one, will give you the CD version that is currently being sold for $100+. It's amazing what price people will put on an item that is no longer being produced.

When these were reissued by... I think it was Varese Sarabande... they released Volume 1 with bits of Volume 2, and then more of Volume 2 with bits of 3, and that left all or most of Volume 4 begging. And didn't Persuasive 1966 actually come out in 1964? Makes the mind-replacement-device reel.

Thanks a lot for the big and good covers

WOW, thanks for this one, far better than the Varese version.

PLEASE let us have volume 1.

Yes 1966 was released in 1964. I saw vol. 4 on ebay but I lost the bid, the last time I checked, it was at $53. I don't know what it ended up selling for, but lucky is the seller for getting that much for it.

Thanks. Since these are reel to reels, I can scan them on my scanner. This gives better results and saves me a lot of time.

Algernon,
Consider it done and vol.3 will follow.

You might have gotten ahead of your self but when you post V1 they will flow in perfect sequence. Thanks for the clean rip.

This is one of my favorite Hi-Fi/Lounge records, thanks for the perfect transfer. BTW could we also get a scan of the label on the reel if possible?

Yes, in my excitement of receiving this reel I posted right away.

Wild Bill,
Sure, I'll post some labels.

You have made me a fan of Lounge music! I was bowled over when I listened to "PERSUASIVE PERCUSSION VOL. 2". Keep posting and thanks.

I am a part-time volunteer social worker in a home for the aged and dying. Music of yesteryears of lounge music makes many senior citizens swell in their wretched lives. I mean you can see the tears in their eyes as they walk down memory lane humming the tunes that remind them of their younger days.

BTW when will you post I'M IN THE MOOID FOR LOVE by Enoch Light/Terry Snyder in Persuasive Percussion Vol 1? We are all dying to share the joy of your generosity in bringing such wonderful music back into our lives.

Thanks so much for your site. I have always been an audio nut and now at the age of 52 your site has helped me figure out why. The other night I was playing the first record I ever owned and through all the scratches hiss and pops it still sounded awesome!! Low and behold it was an Enoch Light sampler album starting out with Great Day. I remember when my mom took me to the Hi-Fi store in 1960 when I first got to listen to American Patrol on our new Zenith open back separated speakers tube amplified Stereo. Throughout the years I have always been searching for that same sound quality. You have helped me find it with your awesome posts and links. Thanks again. PS If you need any Jimmy smith/Oliver Nelson (Also includes Doc Severnson) Let me know

Hi Rich,

I just want you to know I pop in now and then. I just got finished recording Persuasive Percussion 1-2-3-4 and 1966 on a 10.5" reel.

I also have a modest obscure collection of Enoch Light's project 3 pressings, as well as some of his other Big Band stuff etc. Also some 35mm pressings, and reels.

Keep up the good work. I'll try to check in more often.

Regards
Dennis

I discovered you quite by accident and this is wonderful - I had a good number of the Command Records before I lost them all in move :( So thank you for making all this available.
May I respectfully point out that Track 12 Brazil appears to be corrupted in the RAR file
